ADWA Extends Aid to Community Youth Groups
There’s nothing more important to the outdoor industry than sharing our reverence for wildlife and the outdoors with our children. Unfortunately, more of our kids are disconnected from nature than ever before, so the American Deer & Wildlife Alliance is proud to announce a pilot program designed to facilitate and support local outdoor-based youth groups.
“We have often been approached by local youth outdoor groups across the country, which are seeking assistance in funding their youth activities. Unfortunately, we have never been able to simply write checks to all of them, but today I’m very pleased to say we can help them by facilitating local fund-raisers.”
In the new program, ADWA will provide help to local groups that become ADWA affiliates by facilitating annual fund-raisers, similar to sportsman banquets. The events will raise money to support the local community’s outdoor education initiatives, increase outdoor participation among our youth and build awareness for our outdoor traditions.
Many companies, such as Silver Stag Knives, Natural Gear, Hill Country Custom Knives are already lined up to provide donated or wholesale-priced products to the new youth chapters and affiliates.
Ken Strahan of Great Adventures Outdoors Ministries in Dallas praised the new pilot program. The GAO uses outdoor hunting and fishing adventures to mentor fatherless children in the outdoors but, according to Strahan, fund-raising has always been a challenge. “This new program can help us a lot, and we’re excited about the raising more money for outdoor youth activities in our area,” he says.
