Texas Sportsmen Face Mandatory Spay and Neuter Law
Texas Sportsmen Face Mandatory Spay and Neuter Law
Immediate Action Needed
Texas sporting dog owners face a mandatory spay/neuter bill that was recently introduced in the House and Senate. House Bill 4277 & Senate Bill 1845 will devastate sporting dog owners and permanently damage the breeding of accomplished hunting dogs. Texas sportsmen need to contact their state legislators today to oppose this bill.
If passed, the measure would mandate the sterilization of every dog over 6 months of age in Texas, with limited exceptions that do not provide adequate protections for sporting dog owners.
The only recourse sporting dog owners have to keep their prized dogs intact is to apply for an “intact animal permit.” Although this may seem like a simple solution, instead it will run sporting dog owners and breeders out of business with exorbitant permit costs of $300 per dog.
“These mandates will absolutely devastate legitimate sporting dog breeders in Texas and make it impossible to get a good quality hunting dog,” said Rob Sexton, vice president of government affairs for the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance.
Take Action! Texas sportsmen must contact their state representatives and senators today. Urge them to oppose this measure and let them know that if this bill passes it will destroy legitimate and law-abiding sporting dog kennels and hobby breeders throughout Texas.
