The Sportsman Channel Joins "No Child Left Inside" Coalition

09-12-08

NEW BERLIN, Wisc. - The Sportsman Channel announced today it has joined a coalition supporting the "No Child Left Inside" bill to improve outdoor and environmental education for school children of all ages across America. Coalition members include individual and business leaders from environmental, outdoors, education and public health groups.

The "No Child Left Inside Act of 2008" was initiated to create new funding and resources to support outdoor education in our public schools. Over the past decade, the education and participation of youth in the outdoors has declined significantly. This act hopes to re-introduce a new generation to the outdoors, outdoor activities and conservation. The United States House of Representatives will be voting soon on the "No Child Left Inside Act of 2008".

Additionally, the Sportsman Channel and parent company, InterMedia Outdoors, Inc. (IMO), are currently developing a program that supports the education and participation of the outdoors among school-aged children. The program's goal is to educate youth on the wonders of nature, outdoor activities and conservation, hoping to revitalize a new generation's participation and protection of the outdoors. Details of the program will be released later this month.

"The Sportsman Channel is 100% committed to showing this generation the joys of the outdoors and outdoor activities," said Mark Kang, head of Affiliate Relations for The Sportsman Channel. "Experiencing and exploring the outdoors through activities like fishing is an important element of growth. Coalitions like 'No Child Left Inside' and our future education program will help with the overall goal of providing a healthier and happier generation and environment. And we look forward to building our new education program and partnering with our cable affiliates."

"We are thrilled to put the full resources of IMO behind this worthy cause. We want to help re-introduce our youth to the outdoors and how to care for our environment," said IMO CEO Jeff Paro. "As the leader and largest provider of content dedicated to sportsmen and the outdoors, we are uniquely qualified to create entertaining and educational programs that will lead to a bright and successful future for our environment and all the outdoor activities millions enjoy daily."
