Time to Purchase Ohio Hunting and Fishing Licenses

02-09-09

New licenses are valid March 1, 2009 through February 28, 2010

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Anglers and hunters are reminded that it's time to purchase 2009-2010 fishing and hunting licenses. The 2008-09 licenses expire February 28. Licenses can be purchased at vendor outlets across the state and at wildohio.com, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

New licenses will be available February 15 and are valid March 1, 2009 through February 28, 2010. Hunters, especially those gearing up for the popular spring wild turkey season, are reminded that licenses purchased now are also valid during the 2009 fall hunting season.

License buyers need to be aware that 2009-2010 licenses will not be printed on weatherproof paper. Sportsmen and women must protect their licenses and permits from the elements by carrying them in protective pouch or wallet.

Annual resident hunting and fishing licenses cost $19 each; deer and turkey permits are an additional $24 each. Hunters age 17 and under and some Ohio senior citizens are eligible for discounted licenses. A one-day Ohio fishing license costs $11, an amount that can later be applied to the purchase of an annual license. Complete listings of license prices are available in current copies of the Ohio Hunting Regulations, the Ohio Fishing Regulations, or atwildohio.com.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources ensures a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all. Visit the ODNR web site at www.ohiodnr.com.
