Youth Fishing Derby This Weekend

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Children ages 5-15 are invited to participate in a free youth fishing event hosted by the City of Long Beach Department of Parks & Recreation. The fishing event will be at El Dorado Park located at 7550 E. Spring Street, Long Beach, Calif. 90815 on Saturday, November 21, 2009.
This activity is designed to give boys and girls who live in urban areas an opportunity to enjoy a fishing experience in or close to their own neighborhood, with rod & reels, tackle, bait, and assistance provided. Event day onsite registration will begin at 8:00 a.m.; the fishing session will go from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 PM, followed by a congratulatory ceremony and drawing. There will be lots of free prizes for the kids and plenty of fish to catch too. The City of Long Beach will be charging $7.00 per car for parking. None of this money will go to the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation.
Anglers age 16 or older can fish at the end of the event, but they must have a California State Fishing License.
The Long Beach Department of Parks and Recreation is co-sponsoring the derby with the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation www.danskids.org, and other partners expected to participate.
